Annual Projects
The Hugo Lake Disability Deer Hunt began in 1996. Ouachita Mountains RC&D began to assist in 2000. The hunt allows individuals with disabilities to hunt deer. Many of the hunters are Military Veterans. Several members of the Choctaw tribe are involved in this event as well as all the banks in Hugo, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, and US Army Corps of Engineers.
Youth Deer Hunt
Each October we team up with Oklahoma Department of Wildlife for the youth deer hunt. This hunt consists of both boys and girls ages 12 to 14 years of age .We solicit funds for meals for Friday through Sunday. Many kids harvest their first deer during this hunt.
The Four-State Forestry Conference highlights todays forestry practices with leading forestry experts and professionals. For the past 15 years the conference has been hosted in Wagoner and Idabel, OK. The conference targets topics of interest to timberland landowners in the Four-State Region of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana; along with benefits for landowners in the entire pine belt from Texas to the Carolinas.

The conference brings 250 people from all over the country, and is proudly presented by the Ouachita Mountains Resource, Conservation, and Development Council in conjunction with a team of dedicated professionals and generous sponsors including  Choctaw Nation, Weyerhaeuser, Huber, International Paper, among many others.

Southeast District Forestry Judging Contestand Southeast District Land Judging Contest

Each spring for the past 35 years, we have sponsored the District Forestry Judging Contest for FFA and 4-H club members in Southeast Oklahoma. In 2007, we began sponsoring annual Land Judging Contest for them as well. In conjunction with these contests, we award limited college scholarships to the first, second, and third place winning individuals. These scholarships encourage contest participation and create interest in the future of agriculture in Southeast Oklahoma. With the help of the Choctaw Nation, Eastern State Oklahoma College, and local conservation districts we have been able to continue these contests.
Other Projects:
The Ouachita Mountain RC&D Council is also working to bring a Four-States Wildlife Seminar to Southeast Oklahoma and to bring back our Women in Agriculture Southeast District Conference.
